With great pleasure, we present Riesling 2014 from the Mierzęcin Palace Vineyard to you. This 2-year-old wine will be one of the heroes of the Poznań Head Chef dinner on 23.04.2016. And two days later, on 25.04.2016., it will represent Poland at the Grand European Wine Tasting, which is organized in Holland. Our pride went out into the world in order to fight face to face with all the other representatives of European vineyards.
The choice was made by the Polish Association of Sommeliers which after a long verification process decided to invite the Mierzęcin Palace Vineyard to cooperate. Piotr Kamecki, the President of the Polish Association of Sommeliers, together with Tomasz Kolecki integrate the sommelier environment. Furthermore, they promote broadening the knowledge about wine, increase the standard of service as well as the qualifications of the employees of the Polish gastronomy.
The wine for the Grand European Wine tasting was chosen and described by Kamila Dzierżawska (Restaurant Manager, Sommelier of Mierzęcin Palace).
Piotr Stopczyński is the producer and oenologist.
Riesling is a variety which gives back a lot from the soil on which it grows. In Poland, on the Lubusz Land, the Rieslings from the Mierzęcin Palace Vineyard are characterized by a high acidity which we balance by using residual sugar. This gives the wine a unique complexity, different from the one known in dry wines. The aforementioned acidity and sugar are also the basis of longevity of these wines. Moreover, it makes them more charismatic, incredibly refreshing and, even after many years of aging, they can surprise with their vigour and minerality. The citrus aromas and notes of honey dominate in our wine, while the delicate hints of peaches and green apples are present in the background.
